14.10.09, Efficient documentation processes thanks to TCToolbox - W2E Wind to Energy chooses Ovidius

W2E Wind to Energy GmbH uses TCToolbox to optimise its workflow in the field of technical documentation. The Rostock-based company develops multi-megawatt wind turbines, from design of the machine elements, plant management and control, through to specification of the electrical systems. For the technology transfer to its license customers, W2E Wind to Energy has to provide comprehensive documentation. Thanks to the XML-based content management system from Ovidius, it takes less time for the engineering company to produce top quality information.  

TCToolbox breaks up documents into modules that can be edited separately and reused in various publications. The system manages various versions of a module, which means that both the most recent and earlier versions are at hand whenever needed. Automated data transfer from existing Excel lists additionally speeds up the documentation process at W2E Wind to Energy. Consistent use of XML allows for easy integration of third-party systems. Hence, TCToolbox and the W2E coding system LARUS Every(ware) permit the unique identification of defined technical units across all of the lifecycle processes of a wind energy turbine.  

W2E Wind to Energy uses the TCToolbox Workgroup Edition which is designed specifically for the requirements of smaller and medium-sized editorial departments. It is available for Microsoft SQL and MSDE database servers and is supplied with a preconfigured Document Type Definition (DTD). Direct integration with Microsoft Word typesetting allows the engineering company to generate the layout for its documentation automatically and to trigger the creation of PDF documents at the push of a button.  

It took Ovidius only four months from project start to staff training to integrate the new documentation processes into the existing system at W2E Wind to Energy.
